The Caledyne Stinger is designed to engage with a shifting profile in a downhole tool. The spring-loaded keys collapse through restrictions and fully expand to engage the relevant profile. Once the tool has been shifted, the keys auto release from the profile. The tool has a shear out facility in the event that the downhole tool cannot be actuated. The large through bore allows for fluid to be circulated through the tool, making it ideal for use on wash strings.
Single trip to operate downhole profile.
Emergency shear release in case the tool cannot shift the down-hole tool.
Shear rating can be set in the field up to 40,000lbs, dependant on operation.
- Mechanically shifting down hole valves, such as the Caledyne Mechanical Isolation Valve (MIV).
- Other manufacturers down hole tools may be operated using Bi-Directional Stinger.
Each Caledyne design undergoes a comprehensive internal qualification programme prior to release to a customer. For further details of our test programme please contact your nearest Caledyne representative.
