Oil service company expecting staff numbers to nearly double after major finance deal
Aberdeen-based oil service company Caledyne is planning to almost double its workforce. The firm, which specialises in the provision of production equipment and engineering services, said yesterday it was anticipating rapid growth.
Caledyne’s innovative “Torus” safety valve technology has now been granted a European patent. Developed at the company’s base in Aberdeen, Scotland, the Torus safety valve allows for a conduit through the valve without compromising the fail-safe close ability of the tool.As the conduit is independent of the production flow path, it may be electrical, hydraulic, fibre-optic, rotating or reciprocating.
David Martin, director of Caledyne and one of the inventors of the Torus safety valve said: “Torus is part of a system that lets the operator retrofit a completion string inside the existing completion without performing a workover. The Torus safety valve complements our PHI surface termination system.We describe these products as enabling technologies as they allow operators to install equipment that may have been uneconomic if performing a full workover.”
